According to new findings, however, this seems to be a trend that is being matched and that overall, people know they need to get themselves clued up in the sector. The amount of people working within the blockchain industry on a professional level is huge.

According to TechCentral, LinkedIn, the social media for working professionals have published their top five career paths based on the current trends within their network. The job of ‘blockchain developer’ currently heads that list, suggesting that there is a huge demand for blockchain developers, and most importantly, a huge number of people currently working in the sector too.

According to TechCentral:

“Job listings for those who can create distributed ledgers using a peer-to-peer topology – blockchain’s construct – have grown 33-fold in the past year, according to LinkedIn’s 2018 US Emerging Jobs Report. In distant second place are machine learning engineers, positions for which have grown 12-fold over the same period.”

Guy Berger, the Chief Economist at LinkedIn has said:

“It’s no surprise that we’re seeing an explosion of machine learning roles and continuing growth of data science roles. In fact, we started to see glimmers of this in last year’s report, however both fields are starting to see more specialised roles emerge. It also may not shock you that Blockchain Developer is topping the list following this year’s surge in interest around blockchain and cryptocurrency.”

The increase follows a trend in a spike in the popularity of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in general. As more people learn about the industry, more people will start to realise that they have transferable skills that can be used in this area. It’s not just developers that we need, we need content creators, artists, creatives and scientists too.

Cryptocurrency is creating a huge job market

As other job markets crash, the cryptocurrency and blockchain job market is evidently growing. Of course, it’s currently more focused on the technical side of blockchain products, but as these jobs are filled and as competition grows, more and more people will find themselves peering into the blockchain industry in order to improve their own skills and find work, in a job that is likely to keep them busy right until they retire.
